TEC Chair John Vincent has enjoyed a colourful career revolving around a variety of enterprises from very early stage to larger and more mature. He has worked with those businesses from the inside as a CEO and from the outside as a financial advisor and private equity investor.

Fresh and green out of McGill, John cut his teeth in General Electric as a Product Line Manager. A little wanderlust then led to a year as a ski instructor at the University of Grenoble in France and to an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau.

A move into merchant banking then gave John the opportunity to participate in the dreams, successes and failures of dozens of businesses and to know their leaders. It led to a move into operational roles and to becoming CEO of an electronics company and a construction contracting company.

From periods of decline & reinvention to turnaround & high growth, this fluently bilingual leader has successfully guided companies through a wide range of business environments.

John’s CEO experiences have anchored him. One of his proudest moments came during a time of great adversity. After making the difficult decision to close a factory, John resolved to be truthful and transparent with the employees. The men and women who lost their jobs honored and humbled John with their loyalty and goodwill.

He continues to vary his career as the founder of CEO911 Inc., providing business advisory services and coaching to CEOs, using strong listening skills to help CEOs connect the dots into clearer, more coherent pictures. He is also an Associate with the entrepreneur-driven consultancy, Les Entrepreneurs Associés and is a mentor at Founder Fuel, a start-up accelerator.

TEC Group Vision

John likens the TEC CEO Private Advisory Group experience to a case-method MBA with16 real-time cases evolving every month. His TEC groups are built on the core values of fairness, transparency, coherence and mutual respect. They are a place to think freely and be inspired. His group members take on the mission of developing personally and professionally by being “carefrontational”, by confronting each other in a caring way to get out of the comfort zone and into the growth zone.
